A Year in Review: 2012

Here is the annual post I do, highlighting some of my greatest moments this year. Here goes nothing:

  • Completed my first internship
  • Watched One Direction become huge like a proud mom
  • Met Liam and Niall of One Direction
  • Spent Spring Break in LA with some of my best friends
  • Met Shirley Jones aka Mrs. Partridge (hey, the woman is a legend!)
  • Earned my Associate’s Degree
  • Traveled to Israel for life-changing journey
  • Rode a camel in the desert
  • Experienced Shabbat at the Western Wall
  • Had a fashion fangirl moment when I discovered Jerusalem had Topshop
  • Became closer to some of my best friends
  • Saw Nick Jonas more times than I could ever imagine
  • Became certified in JDA
  • Got my acceptance to intern in London for the Summer of 2013

I hope you all have an amazing New Year!

Outfit of the Day: Nov. 20, 2012

Shirt: Topshop
Leggings: TNA
Sweater and Hoodie: Uniqlo
Denim Jacket: The Gap
Shoes: Converse
Scarf: Simply Vera Vera Wang for Kohl’s

Over the weekend, I went to Topshop and picked up this tee shirt along with one in an olive color. I was afraid this piece wouldn’t have any shape to it until I tried it on. I wanted to make it look interesting, so instead of throwing on my coat I layered up with pieces. Instead of regular, cotton leggings, I’d suggest pairing this shirt with those American Apparel nylon leggings or some cool leather riding pants. Some hi-tops and black boots might look even edgier instead of my beat up Converse.

Outfit #21 - June 15, 2012

Top: Topshop
Skirt: Aritzia
Gladiators: Aldo

Today was a beautiful day in New York and I was in the mood to wear my favorite skirt. I simply tucked in my Topshop tank and strapped on my gladiators. I will say that these shoes aren’t the most comfortable nor do they have great traction. However, since I’m not mostly driving instead of walking everywhere, they function well. Plus, I got them in LA so they remind me of California.

I love this skirt and have used in a previous outfit post. It’s so comfy and today was just the perfect day to wear it. The top is so great to wear as well but it’s starting to get a tad ratty because I’ve worn is so much over the last year.

» Want a Topshop Wedding Dress?

Well, now you can! The British-based retailer will now offer a collection of wedding dresses.

This reminds me of how J. Crew has come out with their own line of decently priced gowns in the last few years. Bebe and White House Black Market have also done the same.

I really hope this isn’t the new trend in the industry…

Mary Katranzou for Topshop

The British designer, who showed some very interesting floral and geometric prints at London Fashion Week, will be collaborating with the English retailer.

Here are some of her pieces from London Fashion Week for Spring 2012. I describe them as botany meets geometry:

Check out Style Bubble to see how much her Topshop collection will be influenced by her runway pieces.

Outfit #18 - October 24, 2011

Dress: Topshop
Tights: Nicole Miller
Shoes: Payless

This is what I wore a few days back. I was in the mood to break out my heels and these are my favorite pair along with my favorite outfit to wear them with. I actually wore this dress to the Camp Rock 2 premiere last summer. It’s one of of my favorite pieces in my closet!

I posted these tights last semester with another outfit. They’re textured and fun to wear. I think they add a bit of flare to the solid dress.

Going back to the shoes, I’ve had these for about three years now and I love them. They’re one of my first pairs of heels that I wore constantly and finally learned how to walk in (though they’re not that high at all).

Outfit #16 - October 3, 2011

Shirt: Madewell
Tank top: Topshop
Pants: BDG at Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Payless

This is an outfit that I love to wear! I kind of thought it up last semester but never posted it.

The pants are one of my favorite from Urban Outfitter because they’re a comfy high-rise jean with a short inseam. I have them in black and not only do they wear well, but they wash well.

The shirt is incredibly versatile which is why I love it! I can wear this with black, green, navy, anything! I usually tuck it into pants or a skirt because it’s so long but so comfy at the same time.

Unfortunately, the boots I’m wearing aren’t the comfiest so I resorted to my brown TOMS when I went out after class. Since it was a chilly day, I wore a simple denim jacket to top off the ensemble.

Outfits #14 & #15 - September 20, 2011

Outfit #15:

Shirt: Fashion’s Night Out 2011
Jeans: Levi’s
Skirt: Aritzia
Flats: Lester’s NYC (Top outfit) & Topshop (Bottom outfit)

It’s been almost two weeks since Fashion’s Night Out and I finally got to wear my shirt today! I paired it with a comfy pair of black jeans and some flats for class, then later wore some rainboots since it was supposed to rain.

The second outfit was for the opening of the Style Shop tonight! I had a fabulous time taking some pictures for the website, mingling with students and alumni, and of course, working the shop!

If you came out tonight, thank you so much!

Topshop Chicago is officially opened!

Topshop has opened its second US store in Chicago finally! Miley Cyrus was there to help and signed some autographs for fans.

It’s so exciting to see a company that’s so huge in the UK and overseas make a mark here in the United States. It was rumored last year that Topshop was looking for real estate on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Nothing’s been said about that but it’s also been said that a third store will be opening in Las Vegas.
