Outfit of the Day: Nov. 20, 2012

Shirt: Topshop
Leggings: TNA
Sweater and Hoodie: Uniqlo
Denim Jacket: The Gap
Shoes: Converse
Scarf: Simply Vera Vera Wang for Kohl’s

Over the weekend, I went to Topshop and picked up this tee shirt along with one in an olive color. I was afraid this piece wouldn’t have any shape to it until I tried it on. I wanted to make it look interesting, so instead of throwing on my coat I layered up with pieces. Instead of regular, cotton leggings, I’d suggest pairing this shirt with those American Apparel nylon leggings or some cool leather riding pants. Some hi-tops and black boots might look even edgier instead of my beat up Converse.

Outfit of the Day: July 31, 2012

Shirt: Blue Rain
Jeans: Joe Fresh

Today’s outfit was cute and comfy. I love this shirt that I got at Francesca’s Collections at my local mall. I love this store because they sell such unique garments and accessories from a lot of unknown brands. This shirt was a steal and washes so well. This store has a very extensive online site, so click the link in this post!

My jeans are from Joe Fresh, one of my favorite stores. The brand is from Canada and has taken NYC by storm. They offer simple but stylish pieces at affordable prices with great quality. It was started by one of the founders of Club Monaco before Ralph Lauren bought the company.

The reason why I didn’t pair any shoes with this is because there are many options for this outfit. I wore my gladiator sandals today but I think a light colored pair of TOMS or even some nice wedges would work really well with this outfit.

Outfit #21 - June 15, 2012

Top: Topshop
Skirt: Aritzia
Gladiators: Aldo

Today was a beautiful day in New York and I was in the mood to wear my favorite skirt. I simply tucked in my Topshop tank and strapped on my gladiators. I will say that these shoes aren’t the most comfortable nor do they have great traction. However, since I’m not mostly driving instead of walking everywhere, they function well. Plus, I got them in LA so they remind me of California.

I love this skirt and have used in a previous outfit post. It’s so comfy and today was just the perfect day to wear it. The top is so great to wear as well but it’s starting to get a tad ratty because I’ve worn is so much over the last year.

Outfit #20: January 20, 2012

Top: Delia’s
Jeans: BDG (Urban Outfitters)
Wedges: Aldo
Scarf: Simply Vera Vera Wang (exclusively at Kohl’s)

First off, sorry for the terrible lighting in my house. Second, my apologies for not doing an outfit post sooner. My Winter Break clothes haven’t been that blog-worthy lately. However, I thought that this outfit was worth it.

I know what you’re probably thinking about the top: Delia’s? Yes, it’s from Delia’s, the one store that teenage girls used to love because they still had a catalog, carried clever graphic t-shirts and made of the best jeans. I decided to go in and take a look at the one in my local mall and found this super bright and soft cropped sweater on sale for only $13. I couldn’t resist. It was buy one, get one free so I bought a longer, purple sweater too. Not only is this piece comfy but it’s made in the USA (woot woot for American manufacturing!).

Moving on, I’m sure it’s hard to tell from the lighting, but as soon as I bought this sweater, I knew I had to pair it with my high waist BDG jeans. You’ve probably seen me wear this pair in green in a previous post I did. I haven’t worn these in a while and was surprised at how comfortable this pair is compared to my green pair. Plus, I love the fact that I don’t have to cuff these jeans because they’re supposed to be ankle length, but have the perfect inseam for my tiny self.

Now, the shoes. Let me tell you how much I went through to get these shoes. I had spotted these on Aldo’s website about two months ago and was dying for them. When I went to one of the stores here on Long Island, the sales associate had requested to have them shipped from SoHo. After two weeks, I thought all hope was lost, he called today and said the shoes were in (I was wearing black flats with this before). Hallelujah! I’m excited to wear them tonight when I go out. They’re platform wedges that give me an extra 3”.

Lastly, my circular scarf is the one accessory I wear almost everyday. I happened to spot it in my local Kohl’s a few months ago and fell in love. It is so comfy and cozy and goes with everything. It also has some shiny threads in it to make it pop. I love to wear this at school to give me some extra warmth as I walk around Manhattan or when I’m sitting in a chilly classroom at school.

Outfit #18 - October 24, 2011

Dress: Topshop
Tights: Nicole Miller
Shoes: Payless

This is what I wore a few days back. I was in the mood to break out my heels and these are my favorite pair along with my favorite outfit to wear them with. I actually wore this dress to the Camp Rock 2 premiere last summer. It’s one of of my favorite pieces in my closet!

I posted these tights last semester with another outfit. They’re textured and fun to wear. I think they add a bit of flare to the solid dress.

Going back to the shoes, I’ve had these for about three years now and I love them. They’re one of my first pairs of heels that I wore constantly and finally learned how to walk in (though they’re not that high at all).

Outfit #17 - October 4, 2011

Blazer: Wilfred at Aritzia
Shirt: The Gap
Skirt: Talula at Artizia
Shoes: TOMS

This is my boho chic look that I wore today. I’ve been dying to wear this since I just bought this blazer and the skirt this weekend.

The blazer is kind of like a “lazy piece” because it’s loose and long, but looks really sharp at the same time. There’s a shorter version but when I tried it on in the store, my mom as well as their sales associates/stylists they have there (read by post about Aritzia) agreed that the long one was better. It’s very comfy but it was a little bit of a splurge.

I did try this on with the skirt and a white shirt so that’s where I got the idea for the outfit. I thought the TOMS fit perfectly with the comfy look. I also paired the outfit with a black knit baret.

Outfit #15:

Shirt: Fashion’s Night Out 2011
Jeans: Levi’s
Skirt: Aritzia
Flats: Lester’s NYC (Top outfit) & Topshop (Bottom outfit)

It’s been almost two weeks since Fashion’s Night Out and I finally got to wear my shirt today! I paired it with a comfy pair of black jeans and some flats for class, then later wore some rainboots since it was supposed to rain.

The second outfit was for the opening of the Style Shop tonight! I had a fabulous time taking some pictures for the website, mingling with students and alumni, and of course, working the shop!

If you came out tonight, thank you so much!
