In Review: ‘Magic Mike’
Last night, my friend Kim and I went to go to see Magic Mike thinking that we’d be oohing and aahing at the super sexy men that are in the movie. Well… that didn’t exactly happen.
Yes, Channing Tatum and the rest of the male cast are all fit and sexy, but to be honest, Kim and I actually got bored with the film. Yes, bored. You’re probably thinking, “How could you two get bored when Channing Tatum is practically shirtless for the whole film?” That’s a very easy question to answer: the movie didn’t build up to anything.
We both figured that the story line would be crap, but we didn’t think it’d be that crappy. Tatum’s love-interest wasn’t the most interesting of actresses and the way the film was edited was somewhat off. The trailer gives you a sense that the movie is only about the male strippers. WRONG. It’s about Tatum’s character helping out this kid he meets and then starts falling for his sister. Yes, the strip club comes into play here and there but there’s no climax or funny or even slightly dramatic parts of this film. Hence, why we were bored with it.
Don’t waste your money on seeing this. Magic Mike isn’t what it’s cracked up to be.
