Outfit #21 - June 15, 2012

Top: Topshop
Skirt: Aritzia
Gladiators: Aldo

Today was a beautiful day in New York and I was in the mood to wear my favorite skirt. I simply tucked in my Topshop tank and strapped on my gladiators. I will say that these shoes aren’t the most comfortable nor do they have great traction. However, since I’m not mostly driving instead of walking everywhere, they function well. Plus, I got them in LA so they remind me of California.

I love this skirt and have used in a previous outfit post. It’s so comfy and today was just the perfect day to wear it. The top is so great to wear as well but it’s starting to get a tad ratty because I’ve worn is so much over the last year.

Outfit #17 - October 4, 2011

Blazer: Wilfred at Aritzia
Shirt: The Gap
Skirt: Talula at Artizia
Shoes: TOMS

This is my boho chic look that I wore today. I’ve been dying to wear this since I just bought this blazer and the skirt this weekend.

The blazer is kind of like a “lazy piece” because it’s loose and long, but looks really sharp at the same time. There’s a shorter version but when I tried it on in the store, my mom as well as their sales associates/stylists they have there (read by post about Aritzia) agreed that the long one was better. It’s very comfy but it was a little bit of a splurge.

I did try this on with the skirt and a white shirt so that’s where I got the idea for the outfit. I thought the TOMS fit perfectly with the comfy look. I also paired the outfit with a black knit baret.

Outfit #15:

Shirt: Fashion’s Night Out 2011
Jeans: Levi’s
Skirt: Aritzia
Flats: Lester’s NYC (Top outfit) & Topshop (Bottom outfit)

It’s been almost two weeks since Fashion’s Night Out and I finally got to wear my shirt today! I paired it with a comfy pair of black jeans and some flats for class, then later wore some rainboots since it was supposed to rain.

The second outfit was for the opening of the Style Shop tonight! I had a fabulous time taking some pictures for the website, mingling with students and alumni, and of course, working the shop!

If you came out tonight, thank you so much!

Aritzia is a new favorite!

My mom and I trekked to SoHo the other day and had a very successful time at the new store, Aritzia. This Canadian retailer is officially one of my favorite stores now because of the clothes and the fantastic customer service.

Going to some stores in SoHo can be hard for me because I usually don’t make huge purchases of clothes. This time, however, I did because the store had so much to offer. I bought 3 pairs of leggings, a bandeau and an adorable pleated skirt.

What’s interesting about some of their leggings is that they are made so you can cut them to the length you choose. They have small seams down the leg to show you where to cut with fabric scissors so you can tailor your own clothes. How cool is that?

But the one characteristic about this store that will make me come back is their customer service. I have never had so many people attend to me at a store. Not only that, but the employees weren’t pushing me to buy something I didn’t want. One of the sales associates was helping me style the skirt I bought by having me put on a spandex top that didn’t fit me at all. She clearly said, “I’m not pushing you to buy the shirt, I just want you to get an idea of what to wear with it.” I thought that was so great! Having worked in retail before, I have never been one to push consumers to buy products because that’s not how I would want to be treated. These girls knew exactly what their consumer wanted and how to sell it. Awesome job to their management!

Not only does Aritzia sell some of their own brand of merchandise, but they also sell J Brand jeans as well as Seven For All Mankind. The store is at the corner of Broadway and Spring Street in SoHo and is absolutely worth checking out. Some of their pieces are a bit pricey but others are very affordable. Everything I bought, besides the skirt, averaged to about $25, while the skirt was about $55.
