Since starting the semester, I’ve been slowly introducing new pieces into my wardrobe. Whenever I buy new items, I try to get rid of a garment of the same type (ex. I buy a short sleeve t-shirt and get rid of another).
  • Jack Wills tee: Didn’t need this but begged my mom to buy me a shirt from the store when she was in the Hamptons. She picked this one out. It’s a fun shirt to wear when I have nothing else in my closet.
  • Aldo boots: I have really small feet and these were the closet thing to Chelsea boots I could find in my size. They’re really comfortable and were a steal. I call them my Harry Styles shoes.
  • byCORPUS babydoll top: It was only $10. I love any shirt that’s gray and goes with leggings or jeans.
  • BDG jeans: I love BDG denim and was in desperate need of new skinny jeans. I love these so much that I basically wear them almost once a week.
  • Madewell polka dot tee: It was on sale plus I can dress it up or down. Versatility is key.
  • Forever 21 blouse: Something I bought on a whim. The Union Square store is one of the nicer locations in NYC. I thought it was something I could dress up or down. And it’s the first animal print I’ve bought so far.
  • H&M sweater: I received a call from my mom telling me that H&M was having some good deals and it might be worth checking out. She was right. I bought this sweater and one in grey for the price of $30. Pre-Hurricane Sandy retail therapy.

Outfit #21 - June 15, 2012

Top: Topshop
Skirt: Aritzia
Gladiators: Aldo

Today was a beautiful day in New York and I was in the mood to wear my favorite skirt. I simply tucked in my Topshop tank and strapped on my gladiators. I will say that these shoes aren’t the most comfortable nor do they have great traction. However, since I’m not mostly driving instead of walking everywhere, they function well. Plus, I got them in LA so they remind me of California.

I love this skirt and have used in a previous outfit post. It’s so comfy and today was just the perfect day to wear it. The top is so great to wear as well but it’s starting to get a tad ratty because I’ve worn is so much over the last year.

Outfit #20: January 20, 2012

Top: Delia’s
Jeans: BDG (Urban Outfitters)
Wedges: Aldo
Scarf: Simply Vera Vera Wang (exclusively at Kohl’s)

First off, sorry for the terrible lighting in my house. Second, my apologies for not doing an outfit post sooner. My Winter Break clothes haven’t been that blog-worthy lately. However, I thought that this outfit was worth it.

I know what you’re probably thinking about the top: Delia’s? Yes, it’s from Delia’s, the one store that teenage girls used to love because they still had a catalog, carried clever graphic t-shirts and made of the best jeans. I decided to go in and take a look at the one in my local mall and found this super bright and soft cropped sweater on sale for only $13. I couldn’t resist. It was buy one, get one free so I bought a longer, purple sweater too. Not only is this piece comfy but it’s made in the USA (woot woot for American manufacturing!).

Moving on, I’m sure it’s hard to tell from the lighting, but as soon as I bought this sweater, I knew I had to pair it with my high waist BDG jeans. You’ve probably seen me wear this pair in green in a previous post I did. I haven’t worn these in a while and was surprised at how comfortable this pair is compared to my green pair. Plus, I love the fact that I don’t have to cuff these jeans because they’re supposed to be ankle length, but have the perfect inseam for my tiny self.

Now, the shoes. Let me tell you how much I went through to get these shoes. I had spotted these on Aldo’s website about two months ago and was dying for them. When I went to one of the stores here on Long Island, the sales associate had requested to have them shipped from SoHo. After two weeks, I thought all hope was lost, he called today and said the shoes were in (I was wearing black flats with this before). Hallelujah! I’m excited to wear them tonight when I go out. They’re platform wedges that give me an extra 3”.

Lastly, my circular scarf is the one accessory I wear almost everyday. I happened to spot it in my local Kohl’s a few months ago and fell in love. It is so comfy and cozy and goes with everything. It also has some shiny threads in it to make it pop. I love to wear this at school to give me some extra warmth as I walk around Manhattan or when I’m sitting in a chilly classroom at school.
